Operating and Cleaning a Spit Roast BBQ

Having a BBQ is a great way to accommodate (and entertain) large groups of people for various events and parties. You can grill yourself, borrow from family or friends, but most likely hire a catering company.

Most food companies should provide you with instructions for using and cleaning the grill. Otherwise you can follow these smart tips that we provide to our customers.

Cooking instructions:

1. Open the spit and place aluminum foil over the drip tray, this will make the spit easier to clean later.

2. Prepare the meat (eg clean, remove excess fat, add salt and spices).

3. Arrange a piece of meat by passing a stem through the center of each piece of cooked meat.

4. Keep the meat in place with the forks provided.

5. Place the shaft correctly in the rotisserie.

6. Turn on the gas and light the gas burners and burner.

7. Turn on the power to the engine and start the vehicle.

8. After making sure that the meat is moving around the stick properly (not sliding), close the lid and adjust the burners until the correct cooking temperature is reached (as measured by the temperature on the front of the lid).

A. For best cleaning results soak forks in hot soapy water immediately after cooking.

B. Remove the tray and discard the aluminum foil, excess water and oil.

C. Remove the electric motor from the end of the spit and place away from water.

D. Using warm soapy water and a soft sponge, clean the inside and outside of the saliva, as well as the stem.

E. When the saliva is clean, wipe or rinse the saliva with cold water

F. Allow the saliva to dry and reassemble the machine.
