Origin of Yang Chow Fried Rice

Chinese cuisine has a very long history. The history of Chinese cuisine can be traced back to the 1500s BC. The migration of Chinese people to different countries around the world led to the spread of Chinese cuisine to other countries. Many Chinese cuisines became popular and were adopted and mixed with other countries’ cuisines. One of the most famous Chinese food is Yang Chow fried rice.

Yang Chow fried rice is one of the staples of Chinese cuisine. It is one of the most popular dishes in China, and all restaurants around the world that serve Asian food have this dish on their menus. In some western countries such as the United States of America, this rice dish is becoming a very popular dish.

According to history, the earliest form of Chinese fried rice exists as far back as 4000 BC However, the first recipe for fried rice was created during the Sui dynasty (589 – 618 AD). It originated from the city of Yangzhou in the eastern province of Jiangsu. At this time Yang Chow’s original method was born. The original recipe consists of tidbits of rice, fried pork, small onions, peas and prawns. The original recipe spread to Southeast Asia thanks to immigrants who came from the Yangzhou province of China.

Rice noodles came from peasants in the agricultural district of Yangzhou. Farmers use their leftover rice to prepare Yang Chow. Bits of meat and vegetables mixed with fried rice indicate that the dish was once eaten only by poor Chinese families. At that time farmers do not have enough money to buy big meat, so they cook the rice so that they can eat even small meat along with rice and vegetables. At that time, Yang Chow was considered a common food and was not served at any party and was a meal for the wealthy.

Today Yang Chow fried rice is served in all Chinese restaurants around the world. It is also served in some restaurants that serve Asian cuisine. There are many varieties of Yang Chow fried rice today. In western countries it is made with leftover rice, egg, grilled or lightly fried meat, soy sauce and a few vegetables. There are also other Chinese versions, such as Yuan yang fried rice (with white and red sauce) and Fukien fried rice (with shrimp and fried pork). In America, Yang Chow is now known as rice in a box, many Americans eat it as a fast food because it is easy to prepare and can be eaten anywhere.
